Fourth of July Weekend

It was nice to spend the weekend doing things together as a family that did not involve to do lists and chores!!! We started out our holiday weekend by launching rockets. Isaac is our resident rocket launcher, but Julia really is taking a liking to it as well. They took turns pushing the launch button and equally enjoyed chasing the rockets down.

Getting the rocket ready

This rocket had a payload.... our little lego man went for quite a ride!

My handsome boy!!!

Saturday morning we went out to Garden Ridge for awhile. Though they did have games and such for the kids, we didn't stay long because it was SO HOT!! We tried to have fun there but the kids were miserable and wanted to leave. So after a few games and activities, we headed to Sonic for lunch then to Bahama Bucks for a refreshing dessert.

Isaac's little cheeks were bright red from the heat - he gladly fetched some more water for us

We guzzled down quite a lot of water in the short amount of time we were there. Did I mention it was hot?!

Isaac and Julia both started out on the train ride....

but only Isaac finished. Julia had to be rescued mid-ride. It was a little much for her!

Saturday afternoon we headed over to a friends house for a BBQ and pool time. The pool was so refreshing after a day in the heat. Thanks Wil and Pat for inviting us over and spending the day with us!

Isaac enjoying the cool water. He was so brave and swam most of the time without his floatie on. Now if we could just get him to go under the water without completely freaking out!! Baby steps!

Julia in the pool. Love that swim sweater - she can be so independent in the pool with it on!

Pat, newly pregnant, giving her tummy a break!

Saturday evening we all went down to Schertz Park for the fireworks. I was amazed to see how many people showed up there. It was crazy chaotic. Isaac LOVED the fireworks and said that he wished all the fireworks were like the finale. Julia was exhausted (no nap that day) and not a fan of loud noises as it is. She had one hand covering her ear and acutally fell asleep in Gabe's lap. She is the only person I know that could fall asleep during a fireworks show. We had the kids out until well past 10pm. So on Sunday, we spent the day relaxing and recuperating from our full day on Saturday. We had a movie day, made pallets on the floor, and watched Flushed Away. Great way to end our weekend!!
