Ma Would Be Proud

Ma (my mother-in-law) would be proud to see her oldest granddaughter sitting pretty at the piano she too sat as a little girl. This piano is an heirloom from Betty and I feel extremely blessed to have and cherish something that holds so many special memories for Betty. From the bits of story I have heard, Pappaw (Betty's Dad) saved up money to buy her this piano. Money that I believe was pretty scarce in the first place. Betty plays beautifully and will sit at this piano most every time she comes to visit. Being that I have absolutely no musical skill or ability, I hope my children get her's and Gabe's. So thank you Betty, for allowing us to watch over your piano and add to it many more wonderful memories.

Looks like she already has a love for music! She looks so pretty.

What a pretty girl! Are you going to post one of her recent musical renditions?

I shared this post with Pappaw C., and we both were blessed. The rest of that story is that my father taught me to read musical notes from an old Presbyterian hymnal. He didn't know how to read, or teach me, the timing signatures, so if I hadn't heard the hymn, subsequently any other song, I could not play it properly. I could find the notes on the keyboard but that's about all. That has been a major disappointment to me all my life. Several have tried to teach me the "timing" thing but to no avail. Gabe is certainly able to pass that on to Julia or Isaac if they are interested.

I "pressed" each of my boys to take at least two years of piano-money well spent. It "took" for Gabe, and he took for five years. I believe that at any point Matt and Jake wanted to, they could pick it back up because of the good foundation Karen Porter gave them.

Thank you for loving my beloved piano. It could not have found a better home. I love you, Ma
