Play Group Water Day
What 4 year old......?!
When asked what he wanted to learn about next year at home school, this was Isaac's reply.......1. The inside of an egg and what happens to the chick as it grows
2. What the inside of a camera looks like and how it works
3. What the inside of animals and people look like
4. How a CD player/radio works
5. Planets and Stars
6. What the inside of roots and stems look like and how it works
7. All about robots and space rockets
What 4 year old requests stuff like that?!!Intimidating? YES!! It is going to be challenging to keep ahead of him. He is a very ambitious little boy and told me yesterday that he wanted to build himself a robot. The robot's job would be to get him candy and dessert any time he wanted it!! Ambitious and a bit self-serving, I might add.

R & R Before Round Two
Saturday night we went to some friends house for a BBQ and swimming. The kids were like little fish, especially Julia. She was jumping in and everything. Isaac got past some fears and was swimming everywhere. (with floaties of course!!)
Sunday we got a visit from Phyllis, Peggy, Matt, April, and Sarabeth. It was great seeing them and spending the afternoon with them. Later that evening I even caught Gabe watching sports (for those that don't know Gabe.....HE IS NOT A SPORTS FAN!!!) Kind of strange seeing him with feet propped up in front of the tube watching a car race. He even thought it was pretty funny. (I have a picture to prove it, but I can't find where Gabe saved it)
Monday we worked around the house. I know that is not very relaxing but we have to get some repairs done on our house if we are ever going to sell it again!! We ended our holiday weekend by grilling and enjoying time as a family...just the four of us!
Round Two with the house started today!! I got up this morning and told Gabe that I better clean up around the house just in case it shows. He didn't think it would show so soon. Well, he was wrong and I am glad I did clean up before I left this morning. We had a showing this afternoon. At least the ball is rolling.... maybe we will get a buyer soon. Keep praying!

If at First......
"If at first you don't deceive, try, try again"
Thank you God for giving me a chuckle this morning. I needed that!!

Tough News
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer Requests:
*Peace
*Wisdom and Direction for the next step to take
*That the stress of this will not affect my parenting thus affecting Isaac and Julia
*That we will be content with what God has given us
*To continue to trust God's faithfulness and remain confident in His plans for us
*For some sense of 'normalcy' to return to our family life
*For a buyer to buy our house within the next 2 weeks
Thank you for your prayers.

Catching Up on Pictures
A few weeks ago we took an afternoon for some family time. We went for a family bike ride and picnic. I don't have any pictures of the actual event but I do have some adorable pictures of Julia before we left. My sister, Karen, gave Julia two hats for her birthday. Julia has always loved hats (probably because she sees her Momma wear them so often!!) Her hair is just now getting long enough to pull into a pony tail. SO DARN CUTE!! She is looking more and more like my little girl and not my baby anymore. Awwwwwww!
Moving on...... all you fellow parents know what I mean when I say, "When it gets too quiet, it must mean trouble". This eerie silence fell upon our house the other day. I immediately went searching for the "trouble" only to find this......
Little Miss Fashion here is sporting her new look....hot pink pants, bumble bee socks and big brother's shoes. Lovely isn't it?! I am starting to sympathize with my friend, Angela, over picky fashion fits. Oh, and so it begins!!
There are crazy moments around here and not so crazy moments. Lately, Isaac and Julia have found ways to play peacefully together. Julia is finally at the age where she can engage in more imaginative play with Isaac. Some of their favorite things to play is pretending to be cats and dogs. Love to see Julia crawl around and say "I a kitty Momma"! Isaac is so funny. He feels the need to come ask my permission to be my cat. He can be quite a wild cat - Oliver loves it! They also love to build forts, have tea parties, and play house. It is great to see their sibling bond forming, not without struggles, but it is forming none the less. I never had a sibling close in age to play with, so I am overjoyed that they have each other.
Yesterday it was HHHHOOOOOOTTTTTTTT!! Isaac and Julia love to play in the sprinkler, but I guess they wanted a pool instead.
The last picture I have to share was taken just minutes ago. Julia has had quite a fussy morning so she was having some "quiet" time in her bed with some books. Isaac, in the kindness of his heart, decided to give her all his cars to play with , then his bear, and while he was at he might as well get in with her too! Found them having a marvelous time together in her crib. Of course it wasn't long before Isaac was trying to teach Julia how to climb out. YIKES!! We only have a few more weeks of her in that crib. I want an injury free record for our beloved crib. It has served us well!!
That's it for now! Hope I didn't bore you with the mundane details of our lives. However, I am guessing that if you have gotten this far then you must have somewhat enjoyed your time browsing our pictures and stories!! Have a blessed day!!

Shedding
Isaac: "Mama?"
Me: "Yes, Isaac"
Isaac: "When will I start shedding like Papa?"
Me: Snicker, Snicker, Laugh Hysterically
Sorry Gabe, but that was way too funny not to share!!!

Do Not Be A Jellyfish
I have said it before and I will say it again...... I am a parent of a STRONG WILLED CHILD! A pretty huge battle waged in my house yesterday morning. One that sent me running for every ounce of wisdom I could get my hands on. Fortunately, with God's guidance, I usually run in the right direction and often land at His feet. But not always. In my true nature I run away. I want to escape the conflict or the problem, not deal with it head on. However, today it landed me in the Scripture, in prayer, and the Focus on the Family website!! I came across an article that spoke directly to my need. I copied and pasted portions of it below. The one thing that seemed to scream at me from the article was the description of how parents become "spineless jellyfish who are unworthy of respect or allegiance" when they are not secure and confident in their parenting. One of my biggest struggles in dealing with the behavior of my son, is getting too emotionally involved and allowing myself to react from my emotions. I usually turn into the jellyfish. Because I am a visual person, I wrote "DO NOT BE A JELLYFISH" on my dry erase board in my kitchen as a constant reminder to be confident, decisive, firm but gentle in my parenting. Here is one excerpt from the article that I am referring to.......When that nose-to-nose confrontation occurs between generations, it is extremely important for the adult to display confidence and decisiveness. The child has made it clear that he’s looking for a fight, and his parents would be wise not to disappoint him! Nothing is more destructive to parental leadership than for a mother or father to equivocate during that struggle. When parents consistently lose those battles, resorting to tears and screaming and other signs of frustration, some dramatic changes take place in the way they are seen by their children. Instead of being secure and confident leaders, they become spineless jellyfish who are unworthy of respect or allegiance.
I admittedly have had the thought, "why me?". Why am I the parent that has to struggle with a strong willed child and have nightmare memories of a colic infant? I want to shout like a child.... "NOT FAIR" However, fair isn't the issue here. It is what it is. God chose me specifically for these children and vice versa. So here is where my attitude needs to make its home. And believe me, being the parent of a Strong Willed child, it is hard to remember this on a day to day basis. It is the truth non the less.......
When parents bring one of these tough youngsters into the world, they need to recognize that while raising that child may be difficult for a time, it is worth their effort to do the job right. Their attitude should be, “The Lord gave me this challenging child for a purpose. He wants me to mold and shape this youngster and prepare him or her for a life of service to Him. And I’m up to the task. I’m going to make it with the Lord’s help.”
With renewed hope and the full realization that God's mercies are new every morning, I make this the prayer of my heart....
“Lord, You know my inadequacies. You know my weaknesses, not only in parenting, but in every area of my life. I’m doing the best I can to raise my kids properly, but it may not be good enough. As You provided the fish and the loaves to feed the five thousand hungry people, now take my meager effort and use it to bless my family. Make up for the things I do wrong. Satisfy the needs that I have not met. Compensate for my blunders and mistakes. Wrap Your great arms around my children, and draw them close to You. And be there when they stand at the great crossroads between right and wrong. All I can give them is my best, and I will continue to do that. I submit them to You now and rededicate myself to the task You have placed before me. The outcome rests securely in Your hands.”

Days Like This
Mid-day?! - Let me just say this..2 kids, 1 dog, and you guessed it, a tired, stressed Momma crammed in a small room at the vet. I will let you use your own imaginations on how well that went!!
My day ended with an all out, disobedient scream fest from both Julia and Isaac. I will spare you the details, but Gabe was dealing with Julia and I was dealing with Isaac. I lost count of how many spankings were given to them both by the time we finally got them in bed. I jokingly said, "Wish we had a dollar for every spanking we gave tonight" Gabe followed with, "Yeah, we could pay our closing costs with that!!" Hilarious!!
Glad we can keep a sense of humor even on days like this!

Our Little Two Year Old!!
These pictures were taken again at Target. The photo session didn't go as well as it did when I took Isaac. The photographer did not have any additional help this time. It was a bit stressful to say the least. My goal this time around was to get individuals of Julia for her 2 year pictures, some sibling pictures of Isaac and Julia together(HA - they thought it was a wrestling match not a photo session!!), and a few with me and the kids (Double HA HA - again...wrestling match - UGH!) We got the pictures but only a few turned out to be worthy of purchasing. The pictures we did get look better than the experience actually was!! I forgot how crazy it is trying to photograph a 2 year old. Add a rambunctious 4 year old and a tired, stressed Mommy to the mix - and disaster is sure to follow!!
I ordered the one of Julia up close on her tummy. Pretty cute picture of her sweet smile. I also had myself cropped out of the one where they are sitting on my back. The photographer framed their faces in the word "LOVE" - that will have to do for our sibling picture this time around. At least they were both smiling and somewhat looking at the camera.
When we arrived at Target that day, Isaac looked up on the wall and said, "Look Mommy, that's me!" I had given permission for Isaac's pictures to be used for their brag book (or so I thought) Instead it was a series of pictures of him blown up and placed in a frame that was about 3ft by 3ft. Pretty cool!! So if you are ever at the Target on Blanco Road, that's my boy with the airplanes!

To My Mother
I never quite grasped the sacrifices you made for me. Now I have captured a glimpse of what a mother is willing to do for her children. I never fully appreciated all your effort to care for our family. Now I have experienced the unending and sometimes "thankless" job of motherhood. I never fully realized that you held me as your treasure and gift from above. Now I have looked into my own children's eyes and am overtaken by a love that is indescribable. You, in more ways than even I know, helped shape me into the woman I am today. The memories of my interactions with you help me recall all the roles you have stepped into on my behalf. My earliest memory was when I was four or five years old. You left for a ladies' night out, the Fun Bunch I recall!! I was distraught at your leaving and truly believed you would never return. (bit dramatic at such a young age!!) I sat in the living room looking desperately at some photos of you and I together, sure that would be my only memories of you. I missed you and wanted my Mommy to come home. Of course, you returned and life went on, but that memory speaks volumes to me. You were my Mommy. You held me on your lap and kissed the boo boos away.

Soon Mommy, turned into "Mooommm".(said with irritated attitude that only a teen can pull off) You put up with disaster slumber parties, bad hair days, and pouty attitudes. You looked past all that and spent time with just me. I loved our days of shopping, eating out, and watching movies. I cherished the undivided attention from you.

As the attitude of adolescence faded, you became my Mother. You let me spread my wings and make my own mistakes. You loved me through every step I took into adulthood. You welcomed me back home and supported me when it was time to make my own home.

Now, you are my children's Grammy. You love the loves of my life. Thank you for loving me and mine through the years with an unending love.

Thank you for stepping into all of these roles throughout my life. In thinking of what to give you for your birthday, my heart led me to this. My words of love and appreciation for who you have been, who you are, and who you will continue to be in my life. I don't tell you enough how much I admire your devotion to our entire family. Though the paths of change have been hard to navigate at times, you have never turned your back. I love you for that.
Happy Birthday. I love you and wish you a beautiful and blessed day.
Love,
Your Youngest Daughter

New House - For Real This Time!!
After I wrote that post yesterday, my mind continued to swirl with all the details and "what ifs" of buying this new home. Then gradually through the day, a feeling of peace and confidence came upon me about it all. Gabe had the same feeling and oddly enough the sellers wanted an answer that day. If they had said that two days ago, we would not have been able to say yes. We wanted to be able to go into this decision with wisdom, confidence, and peace. God gave us exactly that. Now we feel like we are making the right choice for our family. Had we said yes in haste earlier this week without seeking God's wisdom we would have missed out on the blessing of seeing and acknowledging His Sovereignty even in, or I should say especially in the small details of our lives. I am comforted by the fact that my God knows me intimately and asks me to simply trust Him, rest in Him and seek Him. We signed and sent the contract off this morning!!! Keep praying for us!!
