We're That Kind of Family....

Yep, we are that kind of family. The type of family that gets the Christmas tree out the weekend before Thanksgiving!! We had a fabulous family weekend decorating the house for Christmas. This is the first year that Julia has really gotten into it all. She had a blast hanging all the ornaments together at the bottom two feet of the tree. Isaac just laid under the tree and hung from the bottom. No worries, Gabe and I spread the ornaments out!

Gabe and I are very similar in our views of traditions and sentimentality. We like for our Christmas tree to tell our story and have meaning. Every year we make our own wooden ornaments. Now, they are not fancy or anything, but definitely packed full of memories. Each child gets their own ornament and then we make a family ornament. Again, this is the first year Julia has been old enough to take notice of this. As we unwrapped the homemade ornaments she was dazzled to see her "baby" as an ornament. (BTW - "baby" is her little bunny cuddle friend) This year Isaac has requested a rocket ornament (surprise, surprise!!) and Julia has requested a princess ornament (again, no big surprise there) She actually changed her request to a princess train - hmmm, I don't know about that. Gabe and I are going to make an airplane with a mountain background, since we took our first vacation in 7 years this past October.

We are off to see the Landes family in Arkansas for Thanksgiving. Let the holiday rush begin!!
