Overheard at the Landes House

Isaac and Julia are sitting at the table discussing their dreams for when they grow up. Julia decided she wants to have her own restaurant.

She says to me, "Mama what is that word for when someone takes care of someone's child forever?'

"Adoption?"

"I am going to have one of my friends adoption one of my kids "

"Why would you do that?"

"Well, I will be too busy working in my restaurant"

I started giggling and embarrassed her. She apparently was being very serious. I only had one thing left to say, "I bet when you are a Mommy you will never want to be away from your children, that's how I feel."

She smiled.
