Sippy cup of...
Today I was standing in the dining room leading Isaac and Julia through a lesson on poetry when I caught a glimpse of Caleb (soon to be 3) quietly walking into the kitchen from his bedroom. I watch as he very quietly and carefully puts the pancake syrup bottle on the kitchen counter top. Just as he was turning to leave (again very quietly), he and I lock eyes. I ask him what he was doing with the syrup bottle. No answer. I ask him if he took the syrup bottle to his room. He replied with a very soft yes. I suggest that he show me what he did with the syrup bottle in his room, imagining the absolute worst. He leads me to his room and says, "I pour in my cup" and that is exactly what he did. He had taken one of his sippy cups, poured the remainder of the syrup into his cup, and then put the lid on. I am guessing he was going to "chug" him some syrup (a.k.a. liquid sugar) In the process of fixing his "drink" he managed to get it on the table in his room which dripped down the side onto a chair and then of course onto the carpet. I have to say I was relieved that the mess was still somewhat contained though. After the clean up, Caleb and I had a little chat about not EVER doing this again. His sweet little face was downcast as he simply said, "Oh, I can't drink syrup?" No my love, you can't. Sorry to disappoint!
