Oh Yeah...This was a TV sitcom actually called Welcome Back Kotter. According to Google, it was on TV from 1975-1979. It had Gabe Kaplan and John Travolta (I had a crush on ole John..that's why I watched it!! :-) So, seeing that you were probably only 2 when it went off the air, I can see why you didn't know what I was talking about. Anyway, the tie to Gabe is that Gabe Kaplan (hint: the same name) was Mr.Kotter and he had a black afro on that show!! Does Gabe remember this show??
