The sarcasm of a 5 year old
Yesterday I went to Hancock fabrics with Isaac and Julia. I was not in the best of moods (feeling sick, tired and hormonal) Why I ventured on this little errand is beyond me. So we are walking around the store and Isaac manages to knock off an entire roll of fabric. Errr.... given first warning. He keeps being a bit too rambunctious and knocks off another. I lean down and say in my clenched teeth stern voice, "DO NOT touch anything else in this store. Keep your hands to yourself" He looks up all innocently and says, "But there is air in the store and how can I not touch the air?!" He is way too smart for that to have been an innocent comment, he knew he was pushing some buttons. Let's just say we had a "discussion" and he kept his hands ( and mouth) under control after that.

One day you will retell that story and you will actually crack a smile. I know it isn't funny right now. Once when Darby was about 4 or so, she was in the phase of telling really bad knock-knock jokes. I had laughed and smiled all I could and finally I couldn't pretend they were funny anymore. So the next joke she told, I didn't laugh. She asked if I heard her. She asked if Bailey heard her. We both said yes, but that it just wasn't funny. A minute later, I hear a small voice in the back of the van saying, "I am surrounded by stupid people." It wasn't funny then, but I get a kick out of it now.
I LOVED THE BLOG ABOUT GOING TO THE FABRIC STORE. THAT'S MY BOY! I LOVE HIS SENSE OF HUMOR WHEN HE JUST STATES THE OBVIOUS. ADVICE TO ISAAC: NEVER TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY-HAVE LOTS OF FUN-LAUGH A LOT.....BUT......REMEMBER TO NOT PRESS MOM'S HUMOR BUTTON IN A STORE FULL OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE IS HAVING A TOUGH DAY. BETTER TO JUST SMILE SHYLY AND SAY "YES MAMA. DO YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU?" THAT WILL TURN HER HUMOR BUTTON BACK ON AND MAKE HER SMILE.
