Hold You Up

On our way to REACH this morning, we were listening to K-LOVE as they were revealing the winners of the "Next Great Love Song". One love story is chosen from many and Matthew West writes a love song about that particular couple and their story. I was in tears listening to the winning couple's story. I could describe it for you but just click here to listen for yourself.

After hearing their story and song, Isaac asked what that was all about. I then explained a shortened version to him. He looked thoughtful for a moment then said these very profound words.....

"Momma, you know what I was thinking about while I listened to that song? I was thinking that this earth is just too fragile for people to hold on to. But God is the strongest and He can hold on to us"

He gets it! My six year old little boy gets it! He understands that there are many things that are uncertain and "fragile", but his God is not. He gets that we are safe in His embrace no matter what we are faced with in this life. Isaac's comments are so much more touching because his Pa, my father-in-law, is fighting cancer right now. Isaac, at his young age, has had to deal with some difficult questions about life and death. Today I am reassured that God has impressed on Isaac's heart that he is safe and held in His hands.
