7 Months

On Easter Sunday, Caleb turned 7 months old. This past month has gone by in a flash. We have been so busy with our flooring project that I feel like he just turned 6 months old and here we are already at 7.

Before I dive into this months goodies, I have to tell you about trying to take Caleb's 7 month pictures. I usually sit him up in his crib with his blanket behind him and his Bear and Lion near him to show how much he has grown. Mr. Mobile would have none of it! As soon as I sat him down, he was on the move before I even got my hands on my camera. The photo session went a like this.....

Sort of looking at the camera. Sort of smiling. Last one in front of the blanket. Bear and Lion nowhere in sight.

And he's off

"nana boo boo, you can't catch me"

"If I hide under this blanket, she can't take my picture!"

"She found me"

Peek-a-boo I see you

Caleb is done with this photo session!!

Phew! It was exhausting and quite hilarious chasing him around the crib for a picture. I have a feeling the days of sitting nicely for a photo are over for now! He is a very busy boy!

When he turned 6 months old, Caleb was on the verge of crawling.... up on all fours, rocking back and forth. During this past month he would do the same thing and then added belly flops. It got him where he needed to go, even though it was very ineffective. He would try and try to crawl but just couldn't get the coordination down. We kept telling him to wait for the flooring project to be finished before he started to crawl. I do not exaggerate when I tell you that two hours after the carpet guys left last Thursday, Caleb crawled for the first time!! Can you believe that?! Smart little guy - what great timing! We are about to install a gate on the kids' bedroom door. Caleb seems drawn to the legos - it is in his blood!!! It is a whole different "adventure" having older kids with tiny toys and a crawler. Should make life a bit more interesting!!!

He now has two beautiful little teeth and I think he may be teething again. He is generally not fussy, except when he is cutting a tooth. But even then, he is not that bad. He eats like a champ and will eat most everything I give him (unless he is teething!). He has even gotten past some of his food snubs and can put away quite a bit of food. We are working on teaching him a few signs. A few weeks ago he signed "all done" for the first time. So neat to see him communicating with me through sign for the first time. Caleb also has learned to shake his head "no". So stinking cute! He usually shakes his head and signs "all done" when he is full. He likes to shake is head at me all the time. It makes me smile.

Yes, that is a yogurt melt in his ear!!

Caleb is such a giggle bug. He loves peek-a-boo and will usually belly laugh each and every time someone peaks at him and says boo. Very easily entertained!! Isaac and Julia love to entertain him and I do believe Caleb has become a bit spoiled from it. He does not like to be alone in a room and is happy as long as someone (usually me) is near him while he plays. I know this is part of his separation anxiety that is normal at this age, but it sure makes getting things done hard sometimes.

Happy when I am in the room with him

Not so much, when I leave

All of our children have nicknames that they answer to regularly. Caleb's has morphed into Doodle, Boo, or both together. Sometimes he is Caleb Boochie. I don't know where some of these names start, but once they stick that is their nickname for life.

I might as well put the excersaucer and door bouncy in the attic. He only tolerates the excersaucer for a few minutes and absolutely protests the bouncer. I guess he knows he is confined in those and would rather be down exploring. And that he does! He found Oliver today on his bed and crawled right up there with him. Oliver looked at him like, "who do you think you are?" Caleb is fascinated with Ollie. I am sure he will chase him around soon.

Caleb is growing like a weed (and we should know because we have plenty of them in our backyard right now) He is already wearing and growing out of size 9 month clothing. Size 12 months fit him better right now. His feet are hanging over the edge of the carrier car seat. It may be time to move him up to the next car seat. I hate to do that because the carrier is so convenient when we are out especially if he falls asleep. Oh well, time marches on!

Getting so big!

Caleb is such a blessing to our family. As with Isaac and Julia, I love him more and more each day. I am blessed beyond measure to be the mother of Isaac, Julia, and little Caleb. Happy 7 months Doodle!

Few more pics...

He crosses his little feet when he sleeps

Always loved to sleep on his tummy with his hands tucked under his belly

Love those chubby knees

Not diggin' the silly hat. Can't say that I blame him!

I don't know what it is,but this kid has quite a fascination with his tongue. Always sticking it out.

That's all for now. It took me all day just to get this post together and I am over a week late with it. Life is busy with 3!!
