8 Months

Love this picture of Caleb. Big smiles. Showing his two teeth. And standing in his crib.

Caleb Andrew is now 8 months old. He is such a delightful, happy lil' fella! Yesterday we were out and about and a lady commented on his great smile. I agreed. He smiles so much his cheeks must hurt. All of this is true, unless of course he is teething. That is one thing that can really get him down. But we have been free of teething issues for a few weeks so all smiles it is.

Caleb was pretty tentative when he first learned to crawl. He would crawl a little way then stop and see how far away I was. At that time he still went to pieces if I left his side. He would still rather be with us, but has now gained some courage to explore on his own a little bit more. And explore he does. He is drawn, like most babies, to cords, outlets, and basically anything he shouldn't have! He does well with stopping when we tell him no. It may take a few "no"s before he stops, but he eventually looses interest and moves on. So far I am not seeing any signs of a definite strong will. Phew! I know he will push our boundaries, but my number one and number two have trained me well. Caleb doesn't have a chance with me. I have been through the wringer and am a better Mom for it.

This particular day Caleb got into the basket of bibs and baby food I keep at the table. I thought no harm could be done until I realized that a box of baby cereal opened and it was all over the floor. Caleb thought it was great fun playing in the mess.

Caleb just recently learned to pull him self up to stand. His little eyes light up and he looks at me with this "did you see what I just did" kind of look. So cute. In fact, the first time he stood up was in the bath tub. Nice. Glad I was right there beside him. We call him our little monkey. He will get a hand hold on something (most of the time it is my pants leg) and up he climbs until he is in our arms. He loves to climb over things too. Besides monkey, I have also called him a bulldozer. He has no time to go around things, he just climbs over it or pushes his way through. Pretty cute!

Watching his Papa mow the lawn

Caleb now gets a bath almost everyday simply because he LOVES bath time. He is now big enough to be in the bath tub without any assistance. He has a great time crawling all over the tub, trying to climb the walls (ahem - monkey), and playing with his siblings bath toys. He especially loves Julia's new Little Mermaid bath toy. Funny to see him chewing on Ariel's head.

Another of Caleb's favorites, is Mum Mums. I found these little rice rusks at HEB and he loves them. He literally gets giddy and goes a little bananas when he sees a package. I like them because it keeps him busy for awhile, they are not messy, and they come wrapped two to a package. So it is great to take with us when we are out and about.

I am trying to teach him sign language. We are not making much progress. Mainly because I forget to sign with him on a regular basis. Just gets busy around here with 3. He knows how to tell me "all done" though his version is not even close to sign language. Oh well, he is communicating with me.That's the point right?! I am trying to teach "more" and "please" We will see if he can get it before next month's update.

Gabe put his work glasses on Caleb. Thought it was cute, so I snapped a picture.

Again with the tongue! I do not understand Caleb's fascination with sticking his tongue out, but that is his quirky little thing that makes him who he is. Instead of sticking it straight out, he now sticks it out to the side and curls it up. Funny little baby boy!

Caleb, like his brother and sister, is an outside kind of kid. He loves to be outside, preferably chewing on leaves and grass! He giggles and giggles when I put him in a swing and never seems to tire of it.

Julia has really taken to mothering Caleb. I think she is drawn to him more now that he is less fragile and more mobile. I caught her feeding him his bottle the other day while he stood at the living room table. Loving it!

Isaac is anxiously waiting for Caleb to be old enough to wrestle with him. Oh what a pair those two will be.

This is the only picture I could get of Caleb and his Andy Bear. As you can see, he was having NONE of it!

I adore this picture. Cute and mischievous smile.

Oh my goodness! Great pictures and love the update on Caleb! He just seems to change so much every month!
And such sweet pictures of Julia and Isaac with him! They are both great big brother and big sister to him!

Disregard my comment on a more recent post regarding Caleb's "standing up." I am a little behind time. The children are darling; just like their parents. Ma
