Ready to Party!
This year for Caleb's birthday we had a dino party. We has always loved his "roars" as he used to call them. In fact, he loves pretty much any animal or creature. We had a roaring good time as we celebrated Caleb's 3rd birthday.
I went for super simple and stress free with his cake this year. I am close to 30 weeks pregnant and just don't have the energy to put into a complicated cake. I have to say, Caleb loved his cake simple or not. All I did was bake a chocolate cake in a glass bowl to make the dome shape. Then I iced it with chocolate and topped it with crushed chocolate cookies. I piped some grass and added some candy rocks. And last I topped the cake with some dino toys we already had. Super easy!

We had a little fun with the food. Julia and Caleb helped me make dino bones which were pretzels with marshmallows on each end dipped in white chocolate. YUM! We also had dino toenails (Gabe thought this was gross) but they were just a bowl full of bugles. We had dino eggs which were red and green grapes and of course for the herbivores we had some carrots with veggie dip.
Once our friends arrived we got busy with our dino fun. The kids dug in the sand for dino fossils and also went on a dino egg hunt. Before we headed in we did the dino pull string pinata. Funny thing is, once all the strings were pulled the silly pinata didn't open. I ended up having to ripped the thing open. Kids didn't mind as long as they got to the goodies. When we headed inside, I had a dino craft for the kids to do. They got to paint on the spikes for their dinosaurs.

We ate dinner and then it was time for CAKE!!! Caleb got to blow out his candles three times. The first time another little boy blew them out for him. Take two: the camera wouldn't work. And take three: success! Caleb finally got to blow out his candles and we captured it in pics and video. Phew - it's must be hard work being a 3 year old!

The big boys, Isaac and David, played super spy the entire time. They hid under the food table and even ate their dinner there as well. Silly boys!
Last but not least, Caleb got to open his presents. He went for a gift we gave him first which was by far his favorite gift..... a flashlight. It's the simple things! He is constantly stealing Isaac or Gabe's flashlights so he was so excited to finally have his own. He also got books and a puzzle. He got a batman t-shirt with a cape. LOVE! He got drawing stuff , a switch and go dino, a puppy toy, and more t-shirts including one that says "big bro".

This is his batman shirt with cape. Caleb knows all about Spiderman but not really Batman yet. So he calls this his "fat man" shirt!! So funny!

He was on the move in his dino towel so this picture came out really blurry. He LOVES his dino towel and as I type this he is running around the house wearing as he roars at everyone.
Caleb had so much fun at his party. And by the looks of my house when it was all said and done, so did the rest of the kids! Disaster!!! But that is what parties are for!
Love my little Caleb Boo. Still can't believe he is 3!
