Super Hero

Ah man, you guys.... I can't put anything past you!!! All of my faithful readers (3 of you!!) were either right or very close to being right about my kids' choice of role playing.

I am not sure what got this started, but lately Isaac and Julia have been playing "Jesus and Mary". So the other day (the day I took the pictures) they were traveling to Bethlehem and telling people about God along the way. I was one of the people they met along the way and I played my role dutifully. I asked all sorts of questions pretending I didn't know anything about God and let them tell me everything they knew. It was neat to hear what they felt were the most important things to share with this "stranger in a distant land"!

As they traveled, Isaac carried a small blanket with the essentials wrapped up inside. You know you can't travel to a distant land without Bear and Baby, right? Julia followed close behind wearing a pink bandanna on her head. So very cute!!! They made a home in my closet and then set about reenacting Jesus' death on the cross.

I was getting ready in my bathroom when Isaac popped his head in saying "Oh by the way, I am going to die for you today" Which spurred a conversation between "Jesus" and me (the stranger in a distant land) about who he was and why dying on the cross was so important. Let me just say this, we may have a little evangelist on our hands!!! So off Isaac went to construct the cross from blankets and pillows. Little strange when Isaac and Julia started fighting over who would get a turn on the "cross" first. There is something wrong with that picture!! Even stranger when Isaac was on the "cross" it mysteriously transformed into a space rocket and they traveled to the sun. Isaac reassured me that he was still "Jesus" though.... "Jesus can do anything, remember that Momma" he said.

By far the most fun I have had watching my children role play! You know, most 3 & 5 year olds would be racing around pretending to be Spiderman or Super Woman. Not my kids.... their super heroes are Jesus and Mary. Love it!

I just love the whole story...especially Isaac saying, By the way, I'm dying for you today! That is PRICELESS!! My family will be thrilled with this latest Isaac and Julia story! We all live for the next I&J installment!! :-) Keep 'em coming!
