Easter 2011

What a busy, fun-filled weekend we have had. Thankfully God blessed me with less fatigue and more energy this weekend so I could fully enjoy my family and the celebration of our Risen Savior.

Saturday morning we joined our church family at a nearby elementary school for a community egg hunt complete with games and bouncy houses. This was Caleb's first official egg hunt. I showed him once what to do and then he went with it. I figured he would pick up 2 or 3 eggs and be done with it, but oh no. He kept hunting until the very last egg had been picked up. Of course, as soon as he realized that the eggs opened up with surprises inside, it wasn't long before he had melted chocolate EVERYWHERE! (who puts chocolate candy in Easter eggs, especially in Texas?!) The crowds of kids in Isaac and Julia's age were HUGE, but they held their own and hunted until their little baskets brimmed with eggs. It was a good time and I must say a great outreach for our church. I saw a lot of people there that I did not recognize from church!

Sunday morning we had a wonderfully, beautiful service at NEBC. Isaac and Julia attended the service with us. Due to a nasty fire ant bite from the night before, I had given Isaac Benadryl before church and he konked out and slept through it all. After church we headed over to some friends house for lunch and another Easter egg hunt complete with cascarones. I think I still have confetti in my hair. And because I am a major push over, we had a third Easter egg hunt at home that evening. By this time, Caleb was exhausted and hunted out. He found maybe three eggs then sat down and proceeded to eat all of the candy. Can't say that I blame him!

What you don't know is that is a fake smile. Isaac was quite grumpy that morning due to his foot hurting so bad.

He was so tired, but was not about to put down his eggs.

I love my family. I love the memories we make together, but most of all I love that Jesus paid it all. He is Risen! He is Alive!! I am washed clean because of his sacrifice. Praise the Lord!
