Charlotte's Web

WARNING: THIS IS A PROUD MAMA POST. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. MAY CAUSE STOMACH TO TURN DUE TO EXCESSIVE BRAGGING.

Isaac has been a book fanatic since he was tiny. I have so many pictures of him sitting as a baby looking at books. Last fall he started sounding out words for the first time and now he is reading Book 6 in the BOB Book series!! WooHoo!! Anyway, that is not what this post is about. We have been reading longer and longer stories to Isaac lately from our My Book House collection. He definitely has the attention span to listen to a long story and comprehend it as well. I am impressed when he can answer questions about the story. So I thought I would try a chapter book with him. I was curious if he could retain his comprehension of the story from chapter to chapter read to him over several weeks. We started reading Charlotte's Web last week and by golly he loves it!!! He can't wait to get to the next chapter and find out what happens. Again, I was pleasantly surprised when he was indeed able to remember the story as we go. He often stops me to ask the meaning of a word or why a character is doing a certain thing. The chapter we read last night was the one where Wilbur gets a buttermilk bath. Isaac is convinced he to needs to experience that as well. I don't know about a bath, but I would be open to letting him taste some buttermilk. When we finish the book we are going to have a movie date complete with popcorn and a pile of cozy blankets and pillows. I will post pics of that blissfully fun occasion later.

I can't wait for Mickey to get to this stage. I have so many books that I want to share. And Charlotte's Web is one of my all time favorites. Sounds like a precious time.
