Let me set the scene.......
Beautiful early evening, birds are chirping, kids are all smiles as they play on the playground. All was blissful until these fatal words, "Mama will you go down the slide?". "Sure", I say. "Why not?" Well, let me tell you why not.... that slide was EVIL!!! There is something about the angle of the slide and the perfectly spaced humps that send an adult flying off the end. When I hit that last hump I heard something snap, crackle, and pop. I flew through the air like a flailing idiot and landed not so gracefully on both feet. Despite the obvious pain I was now in, I was more worried if anyone had seen my narrow escape from the slide of doom. Therefore I acted like I meant to do "that" and raised my arms victoriously. Victorious was NOT how I was feeling however. I had an instant headache that has not left me since. As I was retelling this story to my family, Isaac piped up with a helpful suggestion. He said that he would invent a playground just for adults!! Sounds good to me!So the moral of the story... If you are over 30, take a second look at that slide before you risk your life!!! After all, you (that includes me!!) are not in your 20's anymore.

I do believe that we as "older" adults have within us this continuing feeling of..."I'm Invisible"..just as we did when we were still teens! And this feeling seems to rise to one of its peaks when one of our blessed children asks us...with that Oh so sweet face..."Mom, could you ________? (And you then fill in the blank) We've all done it! And I am one of those people! Let's just say that with age sometimes comes extra..."baggage" if you get my drift and my glorious dismount was not at all glorious! :-)
I am still recovering from the back injury. If it doesn't go away soon I will have to see a chiropractor. How embarrassing when they ask how I got hurt!!!
