Weekend in Coleman

We had a fun weekend in Coleman visiting my parents. Saturday morning Gabe, Dad, and I took Isaac and Julia fishing. After trying for quite awhile on all of the fishing poles, Isaac decided to try Julia's pink and purple princess fishing pole. Julia had long given up trying. Just a few minutes after Isaac cast out the line, he caught his first fish. It was so neat watching him experience rilling in his first catch ever. What pure excitement and joy there was in his eyes. As soon as he caught that fish, Isaac said, "Let's fry him up and eat him for dinner!!" The fish was tiny, but by golly we were going to let him enjoy the spoils of his fishing efforts! That fish was a keeper!! One was not enough though, so back in the water with the same worm that caught the fish before and the same princess fishing pole. Not even a few minutes later, and there was another fish on his line. That silly fish didn't get the worm that time either. The worm survived two fish. Again, back to the water with the same worm and the same princess fishing pole and guess what...... Isaac caught his third fish (worm survived again)!! Quite the little fisherman. It is in his blood!! We took those fish back to the house and Isaac "helped" clean the fish. Really he just stood there and kept asking questions like, "What are you going to do with its eyes?" Eww.... Yuck!! What little that Gabe could salvage from these tiny fish, was indeed fried up and delightfully eaten by all. I even ate a bite (I hate fish)!!

Julia did get to open a few presents and start her birthday celebrations early. When she opened the gift from my parents, she sternly placed her little hands on top and proclaimed loudly, "MINE"! Oh, what is she going to do next Saturday at her birthday party?!! She also got to help Grammy make some cookies.

Saturday night Gabe and I headed over to Abilene to go to a performance by the Abilene Philharmonic. Mom and Dad have season tickets and let us go instead of them. It was fun to get out without the kids and have some time with just Gabe.

You will see in the pictures two dogs. One is Molly, my parents dog. The other is Oliver, our dog. Molly was not too excited about having Oliver invade her territory. Her ears were pinned back in defense most of the time. She also tried very hard to steer clear of our energetic little puppy. I am sure Oliver was quite an annoyance to her. Oliver tried and tried all weekend to get Molly to play with him. Finally on Sunday, Molly showed us all that she still has some spunk left in her. She put Oliver in his place and chased him all over. Way to show him, Molly!!

Here are the pictures from our weekend. Enjoy!!

One last little picture titled.... "You might be a Redneck if you duct tape a broom handle to your goat's head"!! That one is for you DAD!! Love you!!
