Little Miss Julia

So what has Little Miss Julia been up to lately.....

*She is participating more and more in home school. Starting to learn her numbers, shapes, and letters. She pretends to read and sound words out. (Guess she has heard Isaac doing the same!) She still loves to be creative with art and is not afraid to try new things.

*She LOVES to ride her tricycle and is getting pretty fast with it. She has tried her hand at riding a scooter that a neighbor gave us, but definitely prefers the trike!

*She once only loved to play with dolls, princesses, and everything girlie. Now she prefers rubber snakes, blocks, cars and trains. Guess that comes from having a big brother. When around him, they often build elaborate train tracks or block houses. When by herself, she can be found mothering her stuffed animals. She hasn't touched her baby dolls in months. I wonder if that will change once the baby is born.

*She calls the crust of a piece of bread, "bread skin" and she will passionately tell us that she does not like the bread skin.

*She tried to "peak" at the baby the other day by looking in my belly button. So cute!

*She can't wait to turn three so she can have the big kid toothpaste. Seriously, that is one of the things she wants for her birthday. Easy to please!!

*She really enjoys being my little helper. She is pretty good at folding towels, vacuuming with the hand vac, and cleaning mirrors. I love this age, when they want to help around the house. I know it won't last forever.

*She wants to name the baby Foo Foo or Fee Fee. She is definitely not on the baby naming committee!!

*She can be.... let's just say......very dramatic. We can be having a wonderful, fun day but if one thing does not go her way she will say..... "This is a HORRIBLE day!" On that same topic, when told no or corrected for her behavior she will go into serious dramatics by falling to the floor and saying things like, "my knees don't work anymore" or "I have a fever". When I say serious dramatics, I mean she could win an award! This is her having a "moment" in the driveway. And apparently her legs wouldn't work anymore. sigh.... (is that horrible of me to post a picture of my sweet daughter having a "moment"? - Nah!!! - a true update of an almost 3 year old has to include the good and not so good, right?!)

*She still LOVES to be cuddled and held as much as possible. That is one of her love languages.

*She is excited to soon be sharing a room with Isaac but doesn't quite understand that her room will become the baby's room. Might be a little bit of a transition for her. Plan to get them into their new room in the next few months so they are used to it long before the baby arrives.

*She is fully potty trained and was quite easy to train. She insists, however, to call out to me in the middle of the night to tell me that she needs to go potty. She is fully capable of going potty, washing hands, and going back to bed by herself. But she still feels the need to announce it to the whole house at 3am.

*She is more opinionated lately about her own ideas of how she wants to play. She used to just follow along with Isaac and do whatever he wanted. Now she is making it known that her ideas are important too. Good for her.... but this change has caused some rifts during play time with her strong willed older brother. This next picture doesn't really fit here, but I just threw it in because I thought it was cute.

*She and Isaac really do get along so well for the most part. They will play together for hours some times. That is nice to see and frankly will come in handy after the baby is born.

*She rarely takes a nap anymore. Not for the lack of trying though. Everyday is the same.... read a story, cuddle and rest time in her bed. She probably takes about 2-3 naps a week. My kids can thrive on such little sleep. Totally not in my character. They definitely get that lovely trait from Gabe!

*She told me the other day that she knows that Isaac loves her because he takes good care of her. Awwwww...... sniff, sniff.

*She has a best friend named Charlie. Seriously, these two have been bonded since they were 18 months old. Our families don't usually get together so the kids aren't together much, but there is something special between these two. He adores her and she adores him as well. When they see each other in the halls at church they do the "slow motion run to each other with arms spread wide" thing. The other day when they hugged, she put her sweet little head on his shoulder and cuddle him for a second. So stinking cute!! He is number one on her list of friends to invite to her birthday party. Look how similar their smiles are. There is a connection between these two that goes beyond my logic.

*She and I are loving the mother/daughter bond we are forming. She loves to just be with me. That is an awesome feeling. She will go anywhere with me as long as we are together. Isaac is now at that age where he would much rather be hanging out with Gabe. That's good, that is how it is supposed to be. Julia will just come sit on my bathroom sink area and watch me get ready. I love her so much and pray that our relationship will always be open, honest, and strong.

*She tells me that she wants a little sister because she already has a brother. And of course, Isaac tells me just the opposite. Less than a month and we will find out for sure!!

*She loves to look at books. I will come into her room to see that she has pretty much pulled out every single book in her room and surrounded herself with them. I love that both Isaac and Julia are so into books.

*She often tells me that she does not like boys. When I remind her of some of the boys in her life (Papa, Isaac, Grandaddy, Pa, Uncle Matt, Uncle Jake, Uncle Bobby, Charlie etc.) she says she doesn't like any other boys but those boys. I would like her to keep that attitude until she is 30!!

*She got a boo boo the other day. (by the way, boo boos do not phase her much - she has a pretty high pain tolerance) She told me later that her boo boo would go away because God can heal her then she looked up and said, "Thank you God".

*She loves to sing and is constantly making up her own little songs. She reminds Gabe and I of the little girl in "Monter's Inc."... Boo. The part where Boo is going potty and is singing a song. Julia always has a catchy little tune bubbling out of her.

*She has lately been pretending her name is Mary and that "Baby" is Jesus. Sweet!

*She lights up my day and I could not imagine my life without my Little Miss Julia.

Thanks for reading along. This post is, of course, intended for grandparents and family far away, but hope you all enjoyed the update on my sweet daughter.

That's one sweet girl you have there! If you and Julia have half the relationship that Bailey and I do, then you are one blessed woman.
