My baby girl is not so much a baby anymore.....sigh. Julia turned 3 on Saturday. We have had a fun and eventful weekend celebrating our little girl's birthday!
Friday Gabe had the day off, so we all spent the day at the San Antonio Zoo. It rained on us but we didn't let that stop us. It was also crowded because Friday was a holiday here in SA. Again, we didn't let that bother us either. I think the rain got the animals moving a bit more so that was fun to see. We went into the butterfly exhibit that they only have for a short time in the spring. Julia loved seeing all the different colors of the butterflies. They were beautiful. Due to the rain, we had a hard time finding somewhere dry to eat our picnic lunch. We ended up sitting under an awning and putting a towel down to sit on. It was kind of fun!! We ended our zoo trip at the Tot Spot and let the kids play at the beach. It was obviously overcast with a cool breeze, but the kids didn't mind. They played in that water like it was mid-summer and had a blast!!
We always let the kids pick a place to eat for their birthday dinner. Julia picked "Chick Away"also known as Chick-Fil-A. Julia enjoyed roughin' it up with Isaac and the other "billion" kids at the playscape. Fun Times!
Saturday we woke Julia up with our traditional birthday muffin and song. At first she just covered her face with "Baby" , but once she realized what we were doing she perked up and smiled. She enjoyed eating her muffin in bed.
Later that day we had family and friends over for her birthday party - a pink and purple train party. The kids played different train games in the backyard like Pin the Caboose on the Train, Choo Choo Train Course, and my own version of Hulabaloo Train Game. I think the hit of the games was the "waterfall" (sprinkler spraying down from our swing set) we set up for the train course. (they had to go over the mountain, through a tunnel, under a waterfall , around a desert (sandbox) and to the refueling station (lemonade)) The kids seemed to camp out under the waterfall and were soaking wet! Which probably felt good, because it was hot and humid that day. We got them all dried off and headed in for cake and presents. Julia's cake was you guessed it..... a pink and purple train. LOVE the Wilton puzzle cakes, also used this same set to make Isaac's rocket cake.... well worth the money!!! I actually found the set I have at Hobby Lobby on sale, but they only cost $15. I think I have already gotten my monies worth out of it!
Julia got LOTS of princess gifts and she loved it! When I asked her what her favorite part of the party was she answered "the princess stuff"!! She has been asking for big girl princess toothpaste for months now. Up until now she has been using training toothpaste. So I got some princess toothpaste and wrapped it up as a gift. We also gave her pink legos. She loves to play legos with Isaac and thought that was so neat to have her very own. Her other favorite gifts were her princess flip flops, princess sunglasses, pink and purple glove and ball, princess "CD" player, and her princess wand. Sense a theme here!!! She may have wanted a train party, but she got a princess one anyway!! Perfect for my little girl!!
Thank you to all our family and friends that help us celebrate Julia's 3rd birthday. Wonderful memories to cherish always!
