Trip to Coleman

We just got home from our quick trip to Coleman. I found out Thursday that a dear man, who was like a Grandfather to me, passed away the day before. His funeral was Friday. So the kids and I packed up and headed that way.

It was nice to spend time with my parents. The kids got some undivided attention from Grammy and Grandaddy. Nobody (including Oliver) wanted to come home today.

Here are a few pics from our short little trip.

My Dad is a member of the local Volunteer Fire Dept. So he let the kids try on his jacket. They thought they were pretty cool!

Tickle Time with Grammy

Isaac read a book to Grandaddy! This is the first time he has read a book to anyone other than Gabe and myself. What a brave and confident boy!

Julia was "reading" to Grammy! She has listened to Isaac sound out words and now she tries to copy and do the same. She sounds out every little syllable.... it is rather funny to listen to. I will have to get it on video and post it later.

I love this picture for several reasons. It reminds me of Kendall, Jared, Meagan, and Savoy sitting in Grandaddy's lap for story time. Now they are all teenagers. Where did the time go?!

Saturday morning, Dad got up with Isaac and starting making their secret pancake recipe. They spilled the beans and let us know that the secret was to add frosted flakes and cheerios to the pancake batter. Gulp! We ate it up with a smile on our faces! Actually, it wasn't too bad, just a little lumpy and crunchy!

The rest of the morning was spent playing games. Julia's attention span couldn't hold out for a game of checkers so she joined Grammy to play some computer games. By the way, I hear Isaac beat Grandaddy at checkers!!

Isaac got to help Grandaddy mow the grass. Dad even let Isaac drive it by himself!!(with blades off - it was safe I assure you)

Proof that Oliver had been getting into something! I thought Dad had put this on his nose as a joke, but no.... this was all Oliver's doing. He apparently had been nosing around in Mom's flowers and came in with evidence on his nose! Silly dog!
