Since this is my third baby, I did not expect or even consider having a baby shower. But what a blessing it is!! We got rid of some things after having Julia (not thinking we would be able to have another baby) and of course things wear out over the years. So this "showering" of gifts is quite a huge blessing!
Julia got to get all dressed up and come to the Baby shower as well. She held a place of honor as the Big Sister and got the very important job of 'Head Gift Opener'. She loved the attention and of course did her fair share of oohing and awing over the baby gifts. She thought it was special that she was at a "girls only" party!!! At one point the baby started moving. She put her hand on my belly and proclaimed.... "HEY - No boys allowed!" We all got a laugh out of that. It was special to me to have my daughter there along side me as we celebrated the upcoming arrival of our baby boy. Cherished Memories for sure!
My Mom and oldest sister were able to come as well. Again, very special to get to spend this day with my family.
As I was putting up all the gifts later that afternoon, I called Gabe into the nursery to show him how abundantly blessed we were. Hundreds of dollars worth of diapers, wipes, and clothes were given to us as well as other necessary items. The back of the changing table is stacked high with extra packages of wipes and diapers. The blessing did not go unnoticed and is hugely appreciated!
After the baby shower, I took Julia out for a Mommy/Daughter date at Chuck-E-Cheese's. Not the best place to venture out to on a Saturday afternoon, but we had a wonderful time despite the huge crowd of overly excited children. Then we came home to join Gabe and Isaac for an afternoon at the swimming pool. What a great day!
